Bohemian Slide

Mystery Guitarman, very popular. I hate these kinds of videos, the way they start so bubbly and enthusiastic annoys the crap out of me, but yeah for some reason it's a very trendy thing to do.

However, when the music starts it's pretty cool, a one man band thing recorded over several tracks with a video, nothing like the original which is always nice in a cover!

As usual here is the original then his version.

Howl's Moving Castle

Here is Sungha Jung covering the theme music for the popular Studio Ghibli animated film Howl's Moving Castle, just on his youtube profile you can see several other covers he has done on his acoustic guitar. He uses very interesting technique covering each of his fingers in finger plectrums. Although it doesn't match up to the full orchestral piece, it shows the piece at an entirely different angle, which is always a pleasure.

Here is his version and the original, composed by Joe Hisaishi who does most of the Ghibli movies. I would post the live version but the sound quality is so low it's not really worth it.

Ghost Town

An eerie cover of the Specials' Ghost Town by YURI. A friend recommended I put this on the blog.
Their genre is listed as Alternative/Experimental/Psychedelic and I can see why. Their use of tones, loops and the style of the vocals is very unique indeed.

There is no youtube link for this unfortunately, so I'll just post the myspace link, see for yourself. After the original:

My friends band before he came to England, the band Unlike Honey are from Malaysia. They cover Weezer songs really well, it's not a cover band, it's a tribute band! This video was featured on the Rolling Stones website, after Weezer put it on their website. Interesting how a cover seen online can get you noticed!

Retro Game Music Cover On Drums

Here is a really interesting mix of 2 really old video game themes Space Harrier and Turrican by Duracell. He is using a bass drum, ride cymbal, snare and floor tom as triggers. Enjoy.

Drummer goes nuts to Mario music!

A real rock drummer plays to a mario mix, awesome stuff, giving it a whole different feel. By far one of the coolest covers I've ever seen.

It has to be seen, the worst cover ever.

A horrific cover of The Final Countdown, the stage looks awesome, the audience are non existent, and we can see why!
